Donal Boyd was born and raised in the Northeast USA in Boston, MA, but now splits his time between Europe and Africa. Over the past 16+ years Donal has established himself as an expert in photographic and film productions in Southern Africa, Iceland, and many other locations globally.
Now based in Iceland just outside of the capital city Reykjavik, Donal is well situated between the US and Europe with access to Africa to facilitate, direct, and produce commercial, documentary, and photographic projects through his personal brand Donal Boyd Studio and through his media production company Atlas 1 Studio.
Donal is interested in working with established international conservation organizations, individual persons and small-scale conservation projects that need their story told, and sustainable commercial brands that aim to improve the overall well-being of life on Earth.
Available for commissions worldwide with extensive experience and well-established connections in the sub-arctic regions, Southern & Eastern Africa, Brazil, and Indonesia.

7+ Years of Production Expertise
Donal moved to Iceland in 2016. Driven by the connection he felt to the otherworldly landscape, he has explored the furthest reaches of the country and continues to document and catalog the seemingly endless wealth of visually stunning landscapes, culture, and stories.
These explorations have provided Donal with an expertise in location scouting services, production logistic support, photographic and video services, and visual guidance.
Donal continues to offer his services to Icelandic and international brands, production companies, advertisement agencies, and others that aim to utilise the unique visual and cultural appeal of Iceland.

Donal Boyd Studio is primarily focused on producing high quality fine art imagery, which aims to fulfil Donal’s mission of conservation of wildlife and nature through visual advocacy. Donal partners with conservation organisations, galleries, and charitable institutions to raise funds and awareness for conservation projects that protect and restore nature globally.
Atlas 1 Studio is Donal’s media production company - co-founded by Donal and Emma Romeijn in 2022. Atlas 1 produces documentary and impactful media and was established on the belief that film is a powerful tool for (social) change.
Commercially, Atlas 1 focuses on creating meaningful content with an emphasis on cinematic storytelling for environmental organizations and sustainable brands around the world.
